Staying Healthy: Preventive Healthcare
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Healthcare Reform, services that can help you avoid illness and improve your health may be available at no cost to you. If your plan is subject to these requirements as they go into effect, you can have access to these preventative health services without co-payments, co-insurance, or deductibles. That is the first dollar, and every dollar, would be paid for.
Depending upon your age these services may include:
- Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, and Cancer screenings
- HIV Screening
- Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) prevention counseling
- Tobacco Use Screening
- & 22 Additional Covered Preventive Services for Women, including Pregnant Women.
For more information contact your health insurance provider or click here.
Many of these services may be available at student health. For more information click here.
It is important to note that you may be required to obtain these services through an “in-network” provider, and some costs of the office visit may not be covered depending on the nature of the visit and how it is billed.
